19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent defended four early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
